So, here we are again. It is one month ago since my last post, but not much progress has been made. Main reason is because I have been busy with my final master courses. The last exams will be in the last week of January and the first week of February. After the exams I will have lots of time to focus on my master thesis.
However, before I start with my thesis in February I have to study some literature because of two reasons. First reason is because I have to know where I am talking about. If I want to add something new to the literature I have to study the existing literature. Second reason why I have to do a literature study is because I have to do a research proposal. But where do I start and what do I read (and what not)?
First I have to figure out what BPMN 2.0 is. There are lots of books and papers about the benefits of BPMN, but what I need are the very basics. I have to be able to read, understand and create models like the figure below (www.modelworld.nl) and even more complex models. So, I was thinking about the book: Introduction to the Standard for Business Process Modeling by Thomas Allweyer (2010).
Second, one of the recommended papers is written by Pieter Van Gorp and Remco Dijkman but this is an extended version. I’m asked to revise the shorter version of this paper and provide some feedback to Pieter Van Gorp, but this paper is still ‘under construction’ but a draft version will be made available soon.
In the first blog post the I said I will focus on three aspects, namely technology, science and business (healthcare), but Pieter and I discussed today that we could expand the business aspect to other domains as well and not only the healthcare domain.
Although not much progress has been made, some things have been come clear last month which will speed up the literature study and the research proposal. As soon as something happens related to my thesis which is worth mentioning I will post this on my blog.
I made it possible again to leave any comments, so please leave a comment and provide me with some feedback. Thanks in advance!!!
